I first fell in love with photography at age seven
when I received an instamatic camera in my Christmas
stocking and discovered a book of photographs, The Family
of Man. My early encounter with that book and its images
of people from all over the world shaped the direction
I would eventually take with my photography—capturing
moments with and between people.
Whether in front of the camera or behind it, photography
has always been a part of my life in some shape or form,
synthesizing my experience and education in art, technology,
and entertainment. For several years, I honed my craft
by working as a commercial, portrait, and stock photographer,
as well as working for Getty Images and completing a
degree in studio art/graphic design from Loyola Marymount
University. I’ve worked with clients such as AT&T,
Bank of America, Disney, various lifestyle magazines,
healthcare organizations, and individuals.
Teaching photography and computer techniques to everyone
from children, college students, and adults (including
passengers onboard Crystal Cruise Lines) is another
facet of my work. Cable TV viewers may recognize me
as the gadget gal on DIY’s “Enable Your
Home,” the popular workshop show that features
ideas, projects and tips for making home more convenient,
accessible and livable. My interests in photography,
technology, and teaching led to my becoming the host
of DIY’s “The Whole Picture,”
a show focused on digital photography.
I’m active in a number of professional organizations
including the Advertising Photographers of America,
Women in Photography International, the National Association
of Photoshop Professionals, and the Los Angeles Digital
Imaging Group, which is dedicated to advancing the art
and science of digital imaging.
